Flow State - Self Portrait explores the experience of becoming completely absorbed in the act of creation. Built slowly through grisaille and layers of transparent oil glazes, the self-portrait is surrounded and interrupted by abstract forms that move across, around, and through the figure.
The painting reflects the paradox of flow: a state made possible by skill and intention, yet experienced as a kind of surrender. Thought quiets, time recedes, and action becomes instinctive. The boundaries between artist and process begin to soften, leaving the sensation of being both fully present and carried by something beyond conscious control.
