Painted in the months following my father's passing, The Silent Perch emerged during a time of quiet observation and reflection. It became less about depicting a bird than about giving form to a feeling that was difficult to name—a stillness that held both grief and hope at once.
Looking back, I recognize this painting as one of the first moments my work began turning inward. Many of the questions that continue to shape my paintings today first began to reveal themselves here: presence, resilience, and the emotional landscapes that exist beneath outward appearances. Although The Silent Perch stands on its own, it quietly marks the beginning of the journey that would later become Carrying the Invisible.
